Description

BBC Atlantic Relay Station, re-engineering of Transmitter Hall.

The contract was carried out on Ascension Island, a small volcanic island 4,000 miles from the UK in the middle of the South Atlantic Ocean.

The project comprised structural alterations, re-roofing, refurbishment and re-engineering of an existing transmitting station, complete with new high voltage electrical installation, to allow the installation of new transmitters to broadcast BBC World Service into South America and West Africa.

This is the seventh project Allenbuild has successfully completed for the BBC on the Ascension Island.
